Areas of Excellence

Our judges are professionally trained and committed to excellence across their disciplines.

We judge at some of the most prestigious country shows up and down the country, as well as regional and local competitions.  And at some of the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation schemes, such as the Great Taste and Guild of Fine Food Awards.

Many of our judges are award winners and are committed to promoting and raising standards across their disciplines.

Our expertise spans:

Craft

Basketry, beadwork, ceramics, crochet, knitting, papercraft, needle felting, cushions, cross-stitch, embroidery, textiles, toys, upholstery, art and photography.

Our judges have an eye for design and use of colour; suitability of materials; techniques and workmanship; and finish and presentation.

Floral Art

Hand-tied, Interpretative, miniature, petite, pedestal, plants and flowers, traditional and contemporary designs

Our judges are looking for colour and artistry; design, proportion and texture; presentation; and the suitability of materials and components.

Cookery

Bread, cakes, biscuits, scones, pastries, tarts, and confectionery.

Our judges are focused on flavour and aroma; shape and uniformity; texture and use of ingredients.

Preserves

Jams and jellies; marmalade and curds; chutneys, pickles and sauces; fruit cordials and liqueurs.

Our judges are skilled in spotting stand-out flavours; the perfect set; and the techniques to ensure fruits and vegetables stay at their best.

Interpretation & Staging

When it’s about the whole display, and how an exhibit brings together a multitude of exhibits – through composition, interpretation of the brief.

Our judges are looking at visual impact; how items complement each other; use of space and proportion; display; use of colour; finish and attention to detail.
